Luke's Oyster Bar and Chophouse, inspired by the classic elegance of The Polo Bar in New York, offers exquisite seafood and produce from Boston. Since opening in 2014, it has become renowned for its impeccable seafood, professional service, and loyal business clientele.
Louvred shutters and lighting were used to create the illusion of expansive windows along the solid shophouse wall. Now that the lighting quality and atmosphere could be controlled, the space feels like an all-day dining experience which seamlessly transitions into the evening without anyone noticing. The interior features a classic palette of terrazzo floors, tan leather banquettes and the iconic Cab chair.
A beautifully curved slatted timber banquette wall was ingeniously created out of a technical challenge, which is keeping the space needed back of house for the grease trap. Deliberate level changes throughout the dining area create distinct seating zones, while careful attention to circulation and service areas led to the inclusion of popular two-seater corner seats.
The bar takes centre stage, prominently featuring oyster shucking also visible from the entry. As requested by the client, all wine bottles are discretely stored behind chiller doors. Bathrooms are also concealed and feature solid marble basins and vibrant hand-glazed Thai tiles.
