TWP The Work Project is a 47,000sqft co-working space at Six Battery Road, a high-rise tower in downtown Singapore. The Level 3 podium was renovated to add 15000sqft and has now become the main floor of TWP. TWP occupies Levels 3, 6 & 7, accommodating 1000 co-working and private office desks, meeting rooms, hot desks, social and refreshment areas.
The brief also includes an office space and showroom for office-furniture brand Brunner. Brunner products are used throughout the fit-out so the formal showroom and office space is adjacent to a public area so their visitors can flow easily.
Levels 6 & 7 have fantastic panoramic views over the Singapore River, therefore the best locations for the social spaces. The deep floor plates and reduced light on Level 3 became an advantage, celebrating the internalised nature of the spaces. The enormous structural columns on this level created a series of courts within the space, becoming the main spine for the meeting spaces. The columns in these arrival and social spaces are featured by stripping them back to reveal raw concrete.
Materiality draws from the design narrative relative to the form and materiality of the building and its location. The mythical ‘rock of Singapore’ sat at the harbour’s entrance, welcoming merchant trading into Singapore. Inspiration also comes from the deep red granite used in the building facade. Teal green contrasts the deep red colours used throughout. Mirrors are used to reflect the view. Warm timbers and neutral tones balance and complete the scheme.
